Conferences
- CCS is the flagship conference for the complex systems research community. It is organized yearly by the Complex Systems Society, alternating the venue between within and outside Europe. The conference also holds Satellite sessions before the main conference. These are specialized, smaller-scale events focusing on specific topics within complex systems.
- CompleNet brings together researchers and practitioners from diverse disciplines working on areas related to complex networks. As a particularity, it is usually a single-track conference (without parallel sessions).
- IC2S2 is the International Conference on Computational Social Science. It lies at the intersection of social and computational science, attracting researchers from fields like: sociology, economics, political science, psychology, cognitive science, management, computer science, and statistics.

Diamond open access journals
- Peer Community In PCI is a non-profit organization of researchers offering peer review, recommendation, and publication of scientific articles in open access for free. Among others, they have a thematic journal on Network Science, i.e., PCI Network Science.
- OA Diamond Journals Inventory From June 2020 to February 2021, a consortium of 10 organizations undertook a large-scale study on open-access journals across the world that are free for readers and authors.
- The Northeast Journal of Complex Systems (NEJCS) is a peer-reviewed, online open-access journal on complex systems. NEJCS strives to publish original research on complex systems in a timely, open-access manner, free of charge for everyone (i.e., the journal does not charge fees for publishing an article).
Science Communication
- The Pint of Science festival aims to deliver interesting and relevant talks on the latest science research in an accessible format to the public – mainly across bars, pubs, cafes and other public spaces. It is carried out in 27 countries worldwide.
- European Researcher’s Night is an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005 that involves thousands of researchers and institutions in all European countries every year. The goal is to create opportunities for meetings between the world of research and the public to spread scientific culture in an informal and stimulating context. - Winter Workshop on Complex Systems is a one-week workshop where young researchers worldwide come together to work on interdisciplinary projects around complex systems.
- Complexity72h is an interdisciplinary workshop for young researchers in complex systems, where you team up with other early-career researchers to develop a project and submit the results on arXiv in just 72 hours, guided by the tutors.
- Complex Networks Winter Workshop is a bi-yearly workshop on network science and complex systems centered around collaborative problem-solving.
- The International Workshop on Complex Systems is organised every three years and it aims at being an instrumental meeting point for the broad community working in this field. Since its first edition, the workshop emphasizes new results obtained by experimentalists, theoreticians, and computational scientists.

- yrCSS grants are provided by the association of young researchers of the Complex Systems Society. They provide financial support for young researchers to attend conferences, workshops, schools, symposiums or other scientific events related to complex systems. The yrCSS also has specific travel grants to look for new scientific collaborations (yrCSS Bridge Grants).

- The US Northeast Chapter of the CSS provides researchers and students working on complex systems in the US Northeast region with a professional venue where they can share their work, network with peers and potential collaborators, and achieve further professional development. Every year they organise the Northeast Regional Conference on Complex Systems (NERCCS).
Spain
- FisEs Joven, i.e., the “Reunión de Física Estadística Joven”, is a congress specifically targetting young researchers working in the fields of statistical physics and other multidisciplinary applications. It has been organized both as an in-person and online event.
- BIFI Conference, i.e., the National/International conference BIFI, is an annual conference organized by the Institute for Bio-computation and Physics of Complex Systems of the University of Zaragoza.
